New features and improvements to Moatless, newest first.

  1. Sell npm packages

Moatless now has its own npm registry. If a listing's code is a JavaScript or TypeScript package, buyers can install it with npm, pnpm, Yarn or Bun, signed in with a Moatless API key. Sellers turn on npm packages in their listing's settings and attach the tarball from npm pack to each release. Read more about selling npm packages.

  2. Upload release files to any listing

Listings built from a git URL, rather than from GitHub, can now have files attached to each release, such as build output or a packaged app. Sellers upload them from the listing's page, or their agent uploads them. Each file can be up to 250 MB.

  3. Codebases as cards in your agent's chat

In clients that support MCP Apps, searching Moatless through the MCP server now shows codebases as cards with their screenshots and a Buy button.

  4. A simpler buy panel

A listing's buy panel now shows its price and one Buy now button, which opens the ways to buy it, along with what updates cost. Listing cards also show how many people have bought each codebase and how many subscribe to its updates, and a listing's page has a Message seller button.

  5. A new design, with light and dark themes

Moatless has a new, lighter design. You can choose a light or dark theme in the footer, or leave it to follow your system's setting. Listings can have a logo, in a light and a dark version, and listing cards show who sells them.

  6. Requests

If the codebase you want isn't for sale yet, you can ask for it on the Requests page, and upvote what other people have asked for. Sellers can see what people are looking for.

  7. Sell Elixir packages and shadcn component kits

If a listing's code is a Hex package, buyers can now add it as a dependency from Moatless's own Hex repository. If its code is a shadcn registry, buyers can install its components with the shadcn CLI. Sellers turn either one on in their listing's settings. Read more about selling Elixir packages and shadcn component kits.

  8. Messages

You can now message a seller from their page. Messages appear as soon as they're sent, and you get an email about a new message until you've read it. Agents can send messages too, to anyone by their handle.

  9. Release assets, and lower minimum prices

    • Listings built from GitHub can include the files attached to their GitHub releases, for buyers to download.
    • Prices can be as low as $2.
    • Subscribers get an email with their subscription's terms and how to cancel it, and a reminder once a year.
  10. Sellers, categories, and release emails

    • The Sellers page lists everyone selling on Moatless, and each category and tech stack has its own page.
    • Anyone with an account can sell.
    • Buyers get an email when a release they can download comes out, and a reminder to review what they've bought.
    • Buyers who bought without updates can add a period of updates later.
    • Sellers get an email about each sale, and buyers can choose to share their contact details with the seller.
    • Listings show the license their code ships with.
    • Sellers are paid out weekly, for sales at least 10 days old.
  11. Moatless launches

Moatless is open. Developers can sell the source code of apps and kits they've built, from a GitHub repository or any git host, for a one-time price with optional paid updates. Buyers clone what they buy with git, and their coding agents can search, buy and set up codebases through the Moatless MCP server. Read the announcement.
