PG Orbit
A PostgreSQL client for iOS, Android, macOS and Linux, built in Flutter and already selling in the app stores.
PG Orbit is the full source of a PostgreSQL client that's live on the App Store, Google Play and Linux (version 2.7.1). It's one Flutter codebase, about 78,000 lines of Dart in a Clean Architecture layout, with 1,400+ unit, widget and integration tests.
What it does
- Browse schemas, tables, views and functions, and view and edit data in a grid with multi-column AND/OR filters
- A SQL editor with syntax highlighting, find and replace, saved queries,
$1-style query parameters, and full SQL scripts (functions, triggers, transactions) run in order, with results for each statement - Long-running queries offer to cancel and actually stop on the server
- Connections: direct with SSL/TLS, SSH tunnels with key management, Kubernetes port-forward (including CloudNativePG) from an imported kubeconfig, and pasting a
DATABASE_URL - Import connections from AWS RDS, Google Cloud SQL, Azure, DigitalOcean, Linode and Supabase
- Biometric app lock; passwords and keys kept in the platform keychain
- Desktop workspace with a connection sidebar, tabs, menus, shortcuts and right-click menus; phone and tablet layouts, including the unfolded iPhone Duo
- English and Spanish
What's already built for selling an app
- A one-time Premium purchase through StoreKit and Google Play Billing, with checks on the purchase
- Web purchase through a Stripe payment link, with license keys checked against a server-signed token (Ed25519, tied to each machine)
- Sync subscriptions (monthly and yearly) with sign-in through Apple, Google or an emailed link
- A free read-only tier, with every write action routed to the paywall
Built with
Flutter, Riverpod, GoRouter, Freezed, the postgres package, dartssh2, and a fork of re_editor for the SQL editor.
Not included
- The backend (Sync, account sign-in, web purchase tokens, license keys). It's a separate service, so you'd point
PGORBIT_SYNC_BASE_URLat your own. Without it, the app works fully with app-store purchases only. - Signing keys, store listings, store screenshots and release tooling.
- Windows is on the roadmap. The Flutter project folder is already in place, but there's no Windows release yet.
Before you ship anything
- The cloud OAuth callback is hard-coded to
https://pgorbit.com/oauth/callback, so you'll need your own HTTPS redirect page. - Linux builds check
https://pgorbit.com/linux/latest.jsonfor updates; point it at your own. - Replace the app IDs, product IDs and entitlement public key with your own.
What the license allows
You can use and change the code for your own internal use, including private builds for your team through MDM or private app-store channels. You can also copy parts of it into your own products, as long as they aren't a database client.
What you can't do
- Publish PG Orbit or anything built from it as a database client, admin tool or SQL editor. That covers the App Store, Google Play, Linux repositories and every other public channel.
- Share, resell, sublicense or re-list the source code, or push it to a public repository.
- Use the PG Orbit name, logo, icons, screenshots or store listings, or suggest that we endorse your product.
- Use our backend, Sync, licensing or purchase services, or the keys and IDs that point to them.
- Use the code to unlock Premium or Sync in the official PG Orbit apps.
The full terms are in LICENSE, which ships with every release and is governed by Texas law.

PG Orbit Source Code License
Copyright (c) 2026 Acrogenesis LLC. All rights reserved.
This license covers the PG Orbit source code you bought from Acrogenesis LLC
("we", "us"). "You" means the person who bought it or, when bought for a
company, that company together with its employees and contractors working on
its behalf. "The Software" means the source code, assets, and documentation in
each release you received, and anything you build or derive from them.
1. What you may do
You may use, study, modify, and build the Software, forever, for:
a. Internal use. You may run the Software, and give builds of it to your
own employees and contractors through channels the public cannot
reach, such as MDM, Apple Business Manager custom apps, Google Play
private apps, or an internal download page.
b. Your own products. You may copy portions of the Software into an
application or service of your own, and distribute that product
publicly, as long as the product is not one described in section 2b.
2. What you may not do
a. Share or resell the source. You may not publish, sell, sublicense,
list on a marketplace, or otherwise give the source code, in whole or
in part, to anyone outside you, except as section 1 allows.
b. Ship a competing app. You may not distribute to the public, through an
app store or any other channel, the Software or a product built from
it that is a database client, database administration tool, or SQL
editor, or that otherwise competes with PG Orbit.
c. Use our brand or services. You may not use the PG Orbit name, logo,
icons, screenshots, or store listings, or suggest that we endorse your
product. You may not use our backend, sync, licensing, or purchase
services, or the keys and identifiers that point to them; replace them
with your own before you ship anything.
d. Get around PG Orbit's paywall. You may not use the Software to unlock
Premium or Sync in the official PG Orbit apps without paying for them.
3. Keep it confidential
Keep the source code private, and keep it out of public repositories.
You may share it with contractors and service providers, including
AI coding tools, that need it to work for you, if they are bound to
keep it confidential.
4. Releases and updates
A one-time purchase covers the release you bought and the earlier releases
you received. A subscription also covers each release published while it
is active. Cancelling a subscription does not take away releases you
already received.
5. Third-party code
The Software includes open-source components, such as the packages listed
in pubspec.yaml and the code in third_party/. Each one stays under its own
license, which governs that component over this one.
6. Ending this license
This license ends automatically if you break it. When it ends, stop using
the Software, delete every copy, and stop distributing anything built from
it. Sections 2, 3, 7, 8, and 9 survive the end of this license.
7. No warranty
THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS", WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR
IMPLIED, INCLUDING THE WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A
PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
8. Limit of liability
TO THE EXTENT THE LAW ALLOWS, WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT,
INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS OR DATA,
ARISING FROM THE SOFTWARE OR THIS LICENSE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY IS LIMITED
TO THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR THE SOFTWARE.
9. Governing law
The laws of the State of Texas govern this license, without regard to
its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute about it will be resolved in the
state or federal courts located in Texas, and you agree to their
jurisdiction.
